Twelve Women, One Loan, One Business That Changed a Village
Community Quote

Twelve Women, One Loan, One Business That Changed a Village

Twelve women in Samastipur came together to form a Self-Help Group supported by KCS Foundation. They pooled savings, received microfinance training, and collectively took a small loan to start a papad and pickle-making enterprise. Within 18 months, the group had repaid the loan and expanded production. Their products are now sold in three local markets. Eight of the twelve women have opened individual bank accounts for the first time in their lives — and they are now mentoring a second group.

Testimonial

The First Engineer from His Village

Deepak Ranjan, 19, was the brightest student in his government school but had no path to higher education — his father, a daily wage labourer, could not afford college fees or hostel costs. KCS Foundation's merit scholarship programme covered his first year of engineering college fees, provided a laptop for studies, and connected him with a mentor. Deepak is now in his second year of B.Tech at a state engineering college. He visits his school every summer to motivate younger students, telling them: if I can, you can.

The Girl Who Was Almost Married at 14
Student Story

The Girl Who Was Almost Married at 14

Meena's parents had arranged her marriage at 14, believing education was pointless for a girl who would soon run a household. KCS Foundation's community outreach team visited their home three times, spoke with both parents, and enrolled Meena in the bridge learning programme. Two years later, Meena passed her Class 10 boards with distinction in Mathematics. Her parents now speak at KCS Foundation's community meetings, urging other families to keep their daughters in school.
